Eric R. Perkins has extensive experience in international commercial transactions, including the establishment of subsidiaries of foreign companies here in the United States and especially in the State of New Jersey. On the international front, Mr. Perkins has successfully forged international affiliations with such diverse representation as the development of systems which conform to international standards. Furthermore, Mr. Perkins represents a variety of U.S. subsidiaries for his international clients, including the manufacturing, agri-food and construction industries. Mr. Perkins provides these international services in an expedient manner, ensuring that all federal and state regulations are met.
Mr. Perkins also maintains a practice in the area of consumer and business bankruptcy, insolvency, and commercial transactions, with emphasis representing businesses and their owners in bankruptcies, as well as assignments for the benefit of creditors and creditors’ committees. As with his commercial practice, Mr. Perkins’ experience includes matters in the construction, healthcare, real estate, manufacturing, and transportation industries, here in the United States, as well as in Canada, Europe and Asia. Mr. Perkins also has extensive experience in cross-border restructuring in multiple nations.
Mr. Perkins currently serves on the Panel of Chapter 7 Trustees for the United States Bankruptcy Court, District of New Jersey, Newark Vicinage, and has been a member for close to thirty years. Mr. Perkins has also received numerous appointments as a Chapter 11 Trustee. Perkins’ Chapter 11 Trustee appointments have been in numerous industries and businesses, including, without limitation, the manufacturing, engineering, medical, and dental fields.
Mr. Perkins is a member of the Bergen County, New Jersey State and American Bar Associations and the American Bankruptcy Institute. Mr. Perkins serves as co-chair of the Trustees and Examiners Subcommittee of the Bankruptcy Committee of the Business Section of the American Bar Association, and is co-chair of the Bergen County Bar Association, Debtor/Creditor Section. As an expert panelist, Mr. Perkins has shared his knowledge related to a broad range of topics, from international transactions to bankruptcy issues. Perkins is also a former New Jersey Lawyers’ Chapter Chairman of the American Constitution Society for Law and Policy.
Mr. Perkins is admitted to practice in the Bar of the State of New Jersey, United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the United States District Court for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.
